



Course Inventory(sculpture)
ART 222 Beginning Sculpture 3 hours
Prerequisite: ART 131 Design II (3D Design)
Introduction to basic sculptural skills-including plaster, wood, aluminum casting, direct construction, and various mixed materials and techniques-with emphasis on craftsmanship, content, and idea development.
ART 322 Intermediate Sculpture 3 hours
Prerequisite: ART 131, ART 222
Introduction to advanced sculptural thinking and problem solving with assignments geared towards the development of skills and abilities in working with a range of materials and techniques such as metal casting and fabrication, wood carving and construction, and stone working.
ART 323 Sculpture 3 hours
Prerequisite: ART 131, ART 222, ART 322
Continued development of 3D thinking and technical skills through assignments addressing a variety of materials and processes, including physics in three dimensions, the illustration of intangible thoughts with physical objects, the revelance of self to sculpture, and an examination of personal aesthetic.
ART 422 Advanced Sculpture 3 hours
Prerequisites: 9 hours in this studio area
Development of work and thought at an advanced level in preparation for the completion of the B.A. or B.F.A. degree. Graduating semester includes a B.A. or B.F.A. thesis exhibition accompanied by a written thesis requirement.
ART 522/622 Graduate Sculpture (M.A./M.F.A.) 3 hours
Allows students to work with an extensive range of media and processes while emphasizing conceptual development and refined technical ability. ART 522 gears the student towards the development of M.A. thesis work both in exhibiton and written statement. ART 622 gears the student towards completion of the terminal M.F.A. degree and accompanying thesis exhibition and written statement. Both courses focus the student on development as a professional practicing studio artist and emphasize participation in exhibition of research in the studio and professional conference participation.
