UA NAACP Committees

  • Membership
    Membership Committee shall work to maintain and increase the membership of the Association through renewal of old memberships and the securing of new members. Between Annual Membership campaigns, the committee shall seek to renew all memberships as they expire, and shall recruit campaign workers for the next campaign. It shall be responsible for drafting plans for the Annual Membership Campaign and for organizing adequate campaign machinery.

  • Finance
    The Finance Committee, which shall consist of the President, Treasurer, and at least one other member, shall study the financial needs of the Chapter and shall be responsible for drafting an adequate Annual Budget. It shall initiate fund raising projects for special local and national purposes within the scope of the Chapter programs and shall work with other committees.

    Provisions should be made for:
    • Membership Campaigns
    • Freedom Fund Banquet(s)
    • Office Supplies and/or Equiptment
    • Publicity (meetings, programs, etc.)
    • Postage
    • Conference and National Convention Assessments
    • Delegates to State, Regional and National Conventions
    • Workshops and other forms of entertainment, education or social action


  • Education
    The Committee of Education shall study educational conditions affecting [all walks of life].

  • Press and Publicity
    To secure publicity in the local press for the Chapter, to publicize by means of posters, etc., the meetings and activities of the Chapter. (It shall be understood that no press releases may be made without the consent of the President of the Chapter).

  • Program and Research
    To study local and national issues affecting youth and to recommend certain of these issues for discussion and action by the Chapter, to operate a speakers’ bureau for the benefit of the Chapter and for the benefit of organization on the campus and in the community desiring to make use of it, to have charge of such entertainment as shall be approved by the Executive Committee, at the regular monthly meeting following the Annual Meeting of the Chapter, a program of activity for the ensuing year.

  • Employment and Economic Empowerment
    The Committee shall seek ways to empower youth economically.

  • Political Action
    The Political Action Committee shall seek to increase registration and voting; encourage and promote voter education; and work for the enactment of municipal, state, and federal legislation designed to improve the educational, political, and economic status of minority groups. The Committee shall be nonpartisan and shall not endorse candidate for public office.

  • Health
    The Health Committee shall:
    • Work to promote, protect, and maintain the health of Afrian Americans and other walks of life
    • Assess the health needs of the community
    • Advocate for equal access to health, education, care, treatment, and research for all Americans
    • Sponsor health-related activities such as health forums, fairs, and workshops highlighting issues of importance to people of color
    • Support health initiatives of the Association
