DESCRIPTION:
This course will introduce the student to the basic materials of
Russian Folklore. Students will read the primary materials in English
translation. No knowledge of Russian
is required for this course. Three (3) credit hours.
GOALS: Become familiar with the basic genres and motifs of
Russian folklore.

Exam #1: Thursday, September 27
Exam #2: Thursday, November 1
Comprehensive Final Exam: Monday, December 10, 11:30 AM-2:00 PM
REQUIREMENTS:
Two written exams, a written final exam, and a ten-page paper. The
written exams will be essay type exams designed to have the students
synthesize the material they have read. The term paper is to be
analytical in nature and is to make use of several secondary sources. A
guide with detailed instructions will be provided later.
GRADING:
Grades will be based on your performance on the two exams, each worth
20% of your final grade, the term paper, worth 20%, and the final
exam which is worth 40%. All course grades are given on a +/- basis.
