DESCRIPTION:
This course will introduce the student to the basic materials of
Russian Folklore. Students will read the primary materials in English
translation. No knowledge of Russian
is required for this course.
GOALS: Become familiar with the basic genres and motifs of
Russian folklore.
TEST SCHEDULE:
Exam #1: Thursday, September 27
Exam #2: Thursday, November 1
Comprehensive Final Exam: Monday, December 10, 11:30 AM-2:00 PM
REQUIREMENTS:
Two written exams and a written final exam. The written exams will be
essay type exams designed to have the students synthesize the material
they have read.
GRADING:
Grades will be based on your performance on the two exams, each worth
25% of your final grade, and the final exam which is worth 50%. All
course grades are given on a +/- basis. For an explanation of the
policy, see pp. 20-21 of the Undergraduate Catalog.
