CONTENTS

In this second edition the order of the matrix equations have been inverted in order to conform with other applications of matrices (such as multi-layer thin films). Also this makes the application of the method somewhat simpler as the order of matrix multiplication then relates directly to the order in which a light ray passes through the different elements of an optical system.
