About Me

I am currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre at The University of Alabama. As Director of the Costume Design and Production program I work with a great group of MFA students, as well as many talented undergrads.

As an undergrad at Purdue University I majored in Apparel Technology (B.S. 1985). I always liked to return home in Iowa for the summers and managed to do my practicum work in the costume shop at the University of Northern Iowa. As they say...........the rest is history. It's true, theatre does get in your blood! I continued my studies with a year of work at the University of Connecticut before realizing that I wanted to study with Bill and Jean Eckart. I received my MFA in Stage Design from Southern Methodist University in 1989.

I have been the resident costume designer/Assistant Professor at the University of Louisiana-Monroe and Arkansas State before settling down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

I live in a new house which affords me lots of opportunity to go back to my farm girl roots by mowing the yard, planting plants and watering the yard. Thankfully it doesn't snow where I live. I love to visit nice clean snow, I'm not so fond of shoveling it!

Whenever possible I like to travel back to the farm in Iowa and visit my parents. My travel companion isn't a great flyer. Lily, my American Eskimo, and I hop in the car each summer to enjoy some quality "home" time.

In my free time I like to take walks with Lily, read, crochet, work in the yard and yes, I still like to sew! Of course, spending time with family and friends always tops the list!
