This website is dedicated to the memory of Professor Bernerd C. Weber, Professor of History at the University of Alabama from 1936 until his death in 1986. He had collaborated with Professor Gregory de Rocher in order to make available to readers of English a number of selected letters from the correspondence of Henri IV of France demonstrating political and personal features characterizing the times and the man. A vast bibliography was to accompany this project; unfortunately, Professor Weber was unable to complete this task, but the letters he judged to be of particular interest had already been located and an English translation of them completed. The translations of these letters are reproduced here, along with Professor Weber's introduction to the translated letters intended to provide them some historical context, chronological and genealogical tables, and brief notes he deemed useful.
