Project Goal: Publish on this website works by Joubert currently available on a limited-access basis at only a few major libraries. Our model is the ARTFL 1740 edition of Pierre Bayle's Dictionnaire historique et critique now on line. The project's first priority is to offer access to the princeps or the best early edition in graphic files; the next is to offer notes and commentary, along with reliable text files to facilitate searches and other text manipulations.

Because Joubert's Erreurs populaires exists in an annotated English translation which has taken into account the problem of establishing the best edition, and offers copious notes and commentary, and because this translation is available from the University of Alabama Press, only graphic files of the Erreurs populaires will be made available. Joubert's Traité du ris will not be posted on this website inasmuch as Slatkine has published a reprint of the 1579 edition.
