Structure of the 1588 edition of La Pharmacopée

Jean Paul Zangmaistre, a native of Augsburg and one of Joubert's students in Montpellier, was the editor of the first edition of the Pharmacopaea (1579), published in Latin, and the translator of the French editions of this work, as well as of the Traité du Ris published in 1579. Joubert stated in the preface to the latter work that Zangmaistre's translations were "faithful and in conformity with my [Joubert's] meaning, but a little rough and uneven with respect to the language." What must also be said of his editing and his translating is that both were carefully done. The following diagram created by Zangmaistre serves to indicate his desire to present a clear illustration of the structure of Joubert's Pharmacopaea.
