The Kamioka Liquid-scintillator Anti-Neutrino Detector is a 1000 ton liquid scintillation detector located in the cavity of the former Kamiokande experiment. The average reactor baseline of 180 km makes it ideal for testing the oscillation solution to the "Solar Neutrino Problem". As a result, KamLAND has been successful in using reactor anti-neutrino's to determine neutrino oscillation parameters and strengthen the MSW-LMA solution. Of the two regions defined as LMA I and LMA II, KamLAND has further restricted the oscillation region to disfavor the LMA II region at the 99% C.L. Two other theories, neutrino decay and decoherence, used to explain neutrino dissapearance, have been shown only to play a sub-dominant role to that of neutrino oscillation.

Currently KamLAND is preparing for a second phase in which we will look to make a direct measurement of the 7Be neutrino flux from the sun. Due to the reduced background needed for this measurement it will also allow further constraints on the LMA solution by detection of reactor anti-neutrino's. Other measurements such as Geo neutrino's will be strengthened due to the reduced 210Po background.
