1996-1998, Graduate Part Time Instructor in the School of Education, University of Colorado, Boulder. Taught an undergraduate course entitled "Professional Seminar 1: Becoming a Teacher" which emphasized issues of race, class, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and democracy in education and team-taught a graduate course entitled "Introduction to Bilingual Education."

Spring 1995, Instructor of a graduate level course at the University of Colorado, Denver. The course was "Materials and Methods in Bilingual/ Multicultural Education."

1992-1993, ESL Instructor for the Bilingual Education Paraprofessional Training Program at the University of Colorado.

1991-1992, Teacher of English as a Foreign Language, Institute of Northamerican Studies, Barcelona, Spain. Taught 21 hours a week in the adult EFL program. Taught in the professional program in local government offices where I piloted and critiqued new texts and a video course. Completed 8 hours of administrative duties per term.

1990-1991, Teacher of English as a Foreign Language, Aspect American Language School, Prague, Czech Republic. Taught EFL at all levels to a student body comprised of Czech professionals. Worked on curriculum development, especially for a TOEFL preparation course, and syllabus writing.

1989-1990, Teacher of English as a Second Language, Loudoun County Public Schools, VA. Developed and implemented daily lesson plans for non-English proficient high school and elementary students. Also taught a U.S. History course for non-English speakers and an after-school Spanish class. Taught ESL and Civics in the adult vocational education program for immigrants.

NON-TEACHING ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

1998-2000, Assistant Research Professional in the Center for Bilingual Education & Research, College of Education, Arizona State University. Conduct policy related research in the area of education for linguistically diverse groups. Teach a graduate level course for in-service teachers titled "Introduction to Language Minority Education."

1994-1995, Practicum Supervisor, School of Education, University of Colorado. Supervised and advised undergraduate students in pre-student teaching experiences in local schools. Duties included matching students with teachers and classrooms, observing student instructional activities, providing feedback for improvement, and liaising with local school personnel and the Director of Field Experiences in the School of Education.

Summer 1995 Regional Course Director for "Passport Language Schools," Bromley, England. Supervised personnel at language schools throughout England and Wales. Primary duties were to visit school sites to ensure client satisfaction and to observe thirty teachers at five different sites on a rota basis to ensure teaching effectiveness.

Spring 1992, Assistant Director of Brethren Colleges Abroad, Barcelona. Aided and advised junior year abroad students in cultural adjustment and course options and availability at the University of Barcelona. Also arranged cultural excursions, liaised between the program director and professors, and maintained student files.
