Paper copy
Be sure to put your CW ID # on top of each page that you turn in. Your name should only be on the cover page. Once these are separated during grading, this is the only way we will know how to award the credit to you. Turn in the entire exam as a hard copy, with pages stapled together separately into 2 packets:
If you worked on it electronically, you may print out your work and turn it in as a hard copy or turn in the files electronically (or both!). NOTE: you must still turn in a hard copy of each problem. For problems 1-2, the final answers should be on the hard copy; if you have Excel files that you want examined to get full credit, you must indicate on the hard copy by writing "see file prob1_ID#.xls" (or whatever it is called – see below) prominently on the first page of the problem. (If you do not do this, do not expect the TA to look for your file and grade it.) For problems 3-5, if your answer is in an electronic file, then write "see file prob3_ID#.pdf" on the first page of the hard copy for each problem. (If you do not do that, then only what is on the hard copy will be graded.) Failure to follow these instructions could lead to loss of points.
Here is posted the minimal exam you need to turn in if you do everything electronically.
The paper copy is due before 4 PM on Wed., 11/29/06 (turn in at my mail box in Shelby 206 or in my office at 343B).
If you are going to use Excel (or another spreadsheet program), please label all columns and rows explicitly, using the correct units. More information is better than less. Make it very clear how you did the calculations. You will get more credit if you show how you did the calculations, and make a minor error and get the wrong the number, than if you get the correct answer but do not show enough to let me know how you got those numbers. (Sometimes the road you take is more important than the destination...)
Electronic drop-off
All files should be sent to my email address (Kevin.Redding@ua.edu) with the subject line "Biochem take-home exam files". They should be received by noon on Monday, November 27, 2006.
