Biochemistry CUME 2/18/02
Will deal with the following article from the most recent issue of Journal of Biological Chemistry:
Prouzet-Mauléon et al. (2002). Identification in Saccharomyces cerevisiae of a New Stable Variant of Alkyl Hydroperoxide Reductase 1 (Ahp1) Induced by Oxidative Stress*. J. Biol. Chem., 277, 4823-4830.
I did not pick this paper because it is extraordinary. On the contrary, it is entirely ordinary. The methods are good examples of modern techniques used by molecular biologists and biochemists everywhere. Therefore you should be familiar with them and should have no problem discussing the paper intelligently.
If you wish, you may view this paper from my website.
The CUME exam will come with the paper. You do not need to bring it with you. In fact, you cannot. The exam is closed book: no books, papers, or any materials are allowed. You may use a calculator.
