Thursday, August 20: First Class. For Tuesday, please look over sections 1.3-1.6. If there are any topics you would like to
cover please write them on a sheet of paper. If there are any topics you haven't seen, please mention that as well. Sections 1.1 and 1.2
are worth reading as they give a conceptual and historical overview of the subject.
August 25 & August 27: First homework: 1.3 #2, 4; 1.6 #3(d), 4, 1.7 #2, 3, Section 2.2 #1, 6. Graduate students should also do section 2.2 #9.
