History of Leon Taylor Jr

I was born On October 26, 1960 to Leon and Ella Taylor of McIntosh Alabama. I am Number eleven of thriteen Children .

Leon Taylor Sr born to Jerry Taylor and Vinny Reed of the Choctaws of South Alabama.

Ella Weaver Taylor born to George and Louisa Snow Weaver of the Cherokees of South Alabama

 

Leon's History

I attended Reeds Chapel Elementary school in McIntosh, Alabama( from 1935 unto 1973 only Native Amarican attended). Reeds Chapel didn't have the best books because their were not any money to buy them, but we learned from books that was giving to Reeeds Chapel School by schools in the county. After Elementary school I attended McIntosh High School in McIntosh, Alabama before integration the school were all Afro-Americans, When Graduating from high school, I decide that i didn't want to go to college. I Decided to go to a a trade school. The trade school I attended is Porch Creek Telecomucation Center in Atmore, Alabama. Graduating from Porch Creek I taught first grade as a teacher Assistant At Reeds Chapel Elementary school.

While Working as a Teacher Assistant I decided to attend college at the University Of Oklahoma. From 1982 to 1990 I attendThe University of Oklahoma . Where I received my BFA in Art Video Filmmaking and Photo. While at the University of Oklahoma I Became a Brother of Delta Sigma Phi , I became involved with the Baptist Student Union. Where I lead a Bible Study for six years. I also were involved in new sooner orientation staff. Working my way thought school. I had many Jobs.

I worked in housekeeping in the summers stripping and waxing floors and shampooing carpet. During the Fall and Spring semesters I worked at the OU radio station, Instructional Service Center and University of Oklahoma Food Service.The Radio Stattion I producted shows and I had my own show. Food Srevice I worked in every area from dishroom to cashier. Instuctional Service Center every area of video production from promoting every OUsport.

Graduting from University of Oklahoma I worked for two TV station in Oklahoma City channel 43 for one year and channel 25 for one year.

Aug. 19, 1991 I went to Kansas State University . I received a BA in Art Graphic Designed. I became involved in the BSU Christian Chellegenge and KSU Men Glee Club for three Years. I also became involved with Alpha Upsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Phi. As I did at the Univerity of Oklahoma I had to work. and I also had many Jobs. I worked Education Commucation Center as a Student Graphic Artiist and when not working at Education Commucation Center. I working in housing as a housekeeper.

In June 1994 I came to the University of Alabama . Where I received my BA in Art Education. (not certify to teach). The program discontinued before I could finish. I became involved in the BCM, RUF, Bama Blast, Capstone Summer Honors Program, Rural Health, College Camp for LD, ADD Students.
