Looting St. Louis: Sigma Tau Delta in St. Louis, 1999 |
Sigma Tau Delta's 1999 International Convention turned out to be a pretty fun experience, thanks to an impeccable organization, courtesy of our own Dr. Halli (the convention's coordinator), and courtesy of the input of Phi Xi chapter members, who read some outstanding essays and stories. Moreover, the chapter did pretty well hauling in the various awards:
All in all, it was a lot of fun (and the snowstorm on the way home, thanks to Wayne Chandler's navigational skills, only added to the bliss), and more than that. At the banquet concluding the convention, Dr. Halli touched everyone in the room mentioning and holding up the little thingy we got to know so well in his classes--the remote control for his hearing aid that improved his hearing so much that he doesn't have to retire from teaching. We, his students, owe a big thank you to modern technology for making that tiny hearing aid (although a whole semester of Milton is pushing it, Dr. Halli--think of your evaluations!).
