Christina Rauh - Deaf

Twinkling moments are best forgotten like a lonely bell,
and I'll fall asleep between slow blinking,
where your smile drifts through my mind
in and out like a heart beat.
There's a wandering question in me,
it chases my soul around with a feather.
You tickle my imagination.
I'm surrounded by the mist of you,
haunted by nothing-words.
My kisses never step beyond my eyes;
My mouth parts--too full with ripened thirst for you,
but the juice dries up
when your arms are empty with me,
and I must swallow.
Your throat and tongue are obscure as this fading day,
yet bright and hot as its last moments,
and in those sinking seconds above the grass,
I feel the wind like a breath saying "no."
