Sarah Marshall: Teaching: Beginning Printmaking

This class provides an overview of traditional print media. Students complete five projects; black and white linocut, color reduction linocut, aluminum plate lithograph, zinc plate intaglio, and screenprint/stencil. The projects reinforce drawing and 2D design skills, as well as concept development. Projects are introduced through slide lectures, technical demos, examples of former student work, and visits to The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art permanent collection. The class gives a well-rounded introduction to printmaking for non-majors, and helps majors indentify areas they wish to pursue.
