The Spring ACS meeting in New Orleans was a success. My co-chair Seong H. Kim of Penn State and I were very happy with our sessions on Molecular Tribology, and would like to thank all those who contributed.  We got a nice write-up in the C&ENews (Chemical & Engineering News, 81(15), April 14, 2003 pp. 37-40).  A few notes for those interested:  We have been invited to write a review article on the topic for a general audience.  More details as we firm this up.  Also, the ACS Symposium Series is interested in publishing papers from this conference as a book. Interested authors should contact one of us.

I have been invited to give a talk at the Particles 2003 conference to be held 23-26 August in Toronto, Canada.  This program looks very interesting, including much recent work on printing applications.  Besides, you could do a whole lot worse than Toronto in August, assuming the SARS thing is under control by then!

It looks like I'll be doing it again for FACSS 2003, this time in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, FL October 19-23, 2003. Sessions TBA but look for nanostructures, biological interfaces, and environmental surface science, among others. Contact me or go to for more information.
