Service

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s mission of “Service to All Mankind” began at its inception. Here are some of the services that Theta Sigma takes part in:

Sister 2 Sister
a weekly mentoring program, held at the Boy's and Girl's Club of West Alabama, to enrich the lives of young girls in our community.
Breast Care Awareness
an annual community service initiative to inform our community about Breast Cancer. All of the proceeds collected during this week go toward the fight against Breast Cancer.
Sorority Row Trick or Treat
an annual sorority row tradition here at the University of Alabama, it provides a safe place for young children to participate in Halloween festivities.
Cozy Coat Drive
we host an annual coat drive to provide our community with durable coats to endure the winter weather.
Adopt a Family
during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays our chapter annually adopts a family. We provide them with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, as well as gifts (such as toys and clothes) for Christmas.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Candlelight Vigil

held at Denny Chimes to commemorate the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

March Back to the Schoolhouse Door
held annually to commemorate the courageous actions of Vivian Malone Jones and James Hood, the first African-American students to successfully enroll at the University of Alabama.
