The THE editor is a popular XEDIT replacement. We have installed this on bama with the Regina REXX package.

Configuration File

THE uses a configuration file called .therc (dot therc), which you can put in your home directory. If you want to use XEDIT commands and keystrokes that you may be familiar with, we recommend the following configuration:

set compat xedit xedit xedit
define ins cursor home
define find set insertmode toggle
define remove backward
define select sos delchar
define F2 sos lineadd
define F3 qquit
define F7 backward
define F8 forward
define F9 left
define F10 right
define F11 spltjoin
set tabsin on 8
