Iota Eta Chapter History

In April of 1974, the sorors of Beta Eta Zeta graduate chapter came on to The University of Alabama campus to generate interest from college women, conduct interest meetings, initiate study session, and review history and other important information about Zeta. The first group of pledges were known as “Archonians” and consisted of Juddith Flagg, Linda Royster, Mary Davis, Rosie Kinnard, and Cynthia Allen.

The Beta Eta Zeta chapter chartered the Iota Eta undergraduate chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on May 4, 1974 at The University of Alabama. The Iota Eta chapter made Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. history by having the highest GPA among Greek letter organization on the campus of the University at that time. During the charter, these five dynamic young women endeavored to promote the ideals set forth by their founders and to ensure that the light of Zeta forever burns.
